March 26, 2024 - Canon vs. Duffau-Lagarrosse 2009-2020 tasted blind (Fribourg): Medium garnet. Ripe strawberries with some plum as well. Bright acidity, rich body and a little drying finish as well. As so often the 2005 St.Emilions suffer from dry tannins.

70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc

July 1, 2023 - Bordeaux Wimps June 2023 - 1945 (La Trompette): The baby of the flight! Colour - garnet, just the faintest hint of bricking. Very well put together wine - shiny, even glossy, this has the bones to go a long time I think. Its bulk and presence made it a tad inharmonious in the context of the flight, but this is not the fault of the wine. I'd love to taste this again, and I think when it gets to the age of the 82 it will be even better.

February 3, 2023 - Rather roasted with a coffee element to the fruit. There’s some maturity with cedar spice and tobacco elements trying to come out but I found this heavy and lacking freshness. Tannins still well behind the concentrated fruit, with some astringency, but does has a nice velvety texture.
I’ll likely hold my remaining bottles but don’t care for the flavor profile at this stage and hope for the best.

December 13, 2022 - Popped and poured. Medium ruby color. Really nice nose of black currant, plum, black cherry, some savory herbs, a bit of cedar and baking spice. Similar flavors on the palate with ripe but still fresh black fruit aromas coming through along with a bit of forest floor and some toasted oak. Still very primary at this stage which is very impressive for a 17 year old wine. Great structure. Long life ahead. Wish I had another bottle in the cellar to track trajectory.
