Community Tasting Notes 8

March 18, 2018 - Leather and stewed fruit on the nose. Taste was black cherry and cigar box. There were smooth tannins and a decent finish. A good value.

October 14, 2017 - Not bad for the price. Blueberries, coffee, spices and tobacco. Medium finish and good balanced. Very well made.

August 7, 2017 - The wines from Lapostolle are generally pretty good, and this is just that, barely, nothing at all outstanding but a pretty good Chilean Cab. There are aromas and flavours of cherry and raspberry, with the perception of sweetness, but both the nose and the palate are dominated by non-fruit notes such as mint/menthol, smoke, rubber, and black pepper. Which is fine, but there isn't much complexity, nor depth, and the length is nothing great either. I'd say this is best as an accompaniment to food (preferably richer fare that can benefit from extra savouriness), but, then, there are much better options that can serve that purpose (while also standing on their own), both in the price range (around $20 in Canada) and from Chile.

June 13, 2017 - Wine was barely recognizable as a Cab. Dark, full to medium body with up-front tannins. Not balanced and a bit on the bitter side, but drinkable.
