March 18, 2022 - A wine dinner at Stuva in Ischgl (Stuva, Ischgl): We asked the excellent sommelier at Stuva, Ischgl to go off piste and get us a white wine from Austria. We expected a Riesling a Gruner but alas there comes a 22 yr old Chardonnay. We have to say the experience comes as close as when a night in Rome the excellent sommelier at The Mirabelle told us to forget Gaia & Ray and go for Terlano Chardonnay ( and what a love affair has he sparked there).
An impressive wine, bright, zero oxidation here, and fresh at 22yrs old, and we would have guessed 5 years old. Unapologetically an oaky Chardonnay and even after all this years the new oak is very much prominent as is the polished but big acidity and the bright fruit. We usually don’t like this high oak levels but really this wine carries the buttery vanilla side of the oak very well and frankly this is among the best we have come across. 93-94 and mind blown.1 person found this helpful Comment -

January 3, 2014 - Super bottle, at the level of high class white Burgundy. Complex aroma's. No oxidation!

November 28, 2009 - Half bottles for Thai food offline (King's Heath, Birmingham): There's a lot of charry, toasty oak going on here, along with almonds and a curious hint of formaledehyde. On the palate, this is a big, oaky chardonnary, but it works well, and there's nice fruit concentration.

July 19, 2008 - Regular dinner group (@ PZ): Very special bouquet and taste. Oaked. Full bodied. A lot of taste. Litchi. Minerals. Potential to age. Not what you expect in Austria in the first place. Very special…… and very good.

July 24, 2004 - Served to me blind. Piercing acid nose, most enticing. Floral and intriguing. I assumed Hermitage. Delicious, wonderful - would never have guessed it was chardonnay.
