July 19, 2016 - Dark fruit (blueberry, cherry), classic Loire herbal/ pepper, bright acidity. Lingering finish. Not much in the way of secondary characteristics but really enjoyable.

March 27, 2016 - Lovely wine - lots of youthful red and dark berried fruit that shows the richness/ripness of the '97 vintage, with the classic Cab Franc green herbal and forestal accents adding some savouriness. It has that classic Guion sense of lightness and finesse on the palate with plenty of bright acidity, though it doesn't show much in the way of additional complexity - I'm not convinced that the extra aging has really added much to this.

March 27, 2016 - Surprisingly rich, ripe, slightly plummy, fruit on the nose; liquor-like. Behind that, what I expect from Guion: blackberry, stems, green pepper. The palate is light and elegant, with crunchy berries and steamy goodnss, though it still has the vintage's ripeness and richness. Medium, fine tannin; medium-plus acid. Finish of crunchy red fruit.

With time, more lovely green Guion character emerges, challenging the ripe liquor nose, but it still lacks the elegance and finesse I love of Guion.

January 12, 2016 - Really good after a couple of hours in the decanter. Reticent beforehand. Typical tobacco and graphite notes, then, strikingly and deliciously, all the flavor components of a maraschino cherry. As the wine filled out, I was even reminded of that fruit's texture. Some sweet fennel seed also.
