Community Tasting Notes 7

December 8, 2018 - Deep ruby. On the nose, medium (+) intensity. Aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, black plum, light notes of clove and smoke with gamey and farmyard aromas.
Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol, medium tannins which are ripe and fine-grained, medium-bodied with medium flavour intensity. Flavours are of blackcurrant, black cherry, black plum, smoke with notes of game and farmyard. The finish is medium (+).
This wine is of very good quality. Though is a medium-style of wine, it nevertheless shows good definition of aromas and flavours from mutiple clusters displaying complexity. The alcohol and acidity are in balance, creating a harmonious palate which is moreish and pleasant, especially on the good finish. To be outstanding it would require greater flavour concentration and complexity, but this is a fresh, easy-drinking wine. Due to the note of tertiary, some volatility, and the lighter flavour concentration this is a wine to drink now, not suitable for further ageing.

This with does show it's roots in it's lighter touch, marked fresh acidity and notes of volatility. But none of this is unpleasant - it is immensely drinkable with clean fruit fruit flavours. The best side of 'natural' wine.

February 16, 2018 - Popped and poured and this wine starts off by throwing some significant funk--like fresh tilled wet earth and wet coffee grounds. When given the chance to open up, I start to get a bit more fruit, mainly blackberry.

On the palate, this wine shows black olive and black fruit that started showing on the nose, like plum and blackberry.

It's an interesting wine overall, but I would prefer to see purer fruit to balance out the significant savory notes of this wine.

July 15, 2017 - Popped and poured, youthful ruby/purple. Aromas of dark berries & black cherries are complimented by subtle herbs, a briny quality (black olive?) and an impression of earthy minerals. So pretty. Moderate-light body, well-balanced acidity. Flavors mirror the nose and are accented by additional notes of spice. Smooth, somewhat chalky tannins are mostly indiscernible on the close. Easygoing and tasty, it's hard to put the glass down when drinking this one.

April 20, 2017 - Medium red very bright and clear. Interesting nose, a bit floral, red fruit and mineral. Delicious cherry and mineral flavours and a dry light finish.

Definitely a good wine but no pepper or earth or smoked meat. Perhaps these will develop.

April 4, 2017 - Les' favorite from Texier. 100% Syrah from south and west of Cornas. Actually, I really like that as well. There is allot going on. Perfumey and fresh and spicy and lean but all there.
