Community Tasting Notes 5

October 24, 2021 - Pop and pour. Benchmarking exercise. On the nose: vanilla, ripe strawberry cream, spice (incl black pepper and white pepper)...nice intensity. On the palate: fantastic acidity, and wild strawberry, but marred a bit by bitter wood, lovely black pepper and spice notes, and serious, finely grained tannin on the finish. Very good, if modern in style.

May 8, 2020 - inadvertently opened (well premature)
nose- red fruits with toast and coffee notes
mouth - the oak is quite prominent and needs time to integrate. beneath it i see a juicy red to dark fruit (hard to really see past all the makeup) which is lively and lovely. finished with bitter oak tannins obscuring my glimpse of the fruit. shame on me for letting this one slip away.

August 6, 2018 - This is a very young and fairly large-scaled Burg. There are hints of Oregon PN here, but ultimately certain elements convince you this is Burgundy. Abundant ripe fruit. Some dusty tannins on the end. Ten years will help this wine, I think. But those who like American Pinot might want to drink this now for its boisterous fruit.

January 13, 2016 - Tasted at Clarion 2014 Burgundy en primeur event. A wonderful combination of extraction and ripeness. The wine has structure, power whilst retaining balance and poise. Quite wonderful!

January 11, 2016 - Tasted alongside the VR Village and NSG 1er Cru Aux Boudots. Again rather soft on the nose, very pure and almost delicate fruit, hints of creamy oak, spices and minerality. On the palate very elegant and harmonious but more serious with good acidity and round but firm tannins. The delicacy and juiciness of fruit is present as well. Very good length. A beautiful wine! 92-93+
