Community Tasting Notes 5

February 3, 2024 - This is my second note on this wine. My earlier notes (see 5/31/2019) still apply roughly, but I believe that the fruitiness is waning a bit, and sweetness is inching up (I don't like sweetness in red wines) so I doubt that this wine will get any better with additional age.

April 11, 2020 - Decanted for 2 hours which it needed. Rustic with a hollow middle palate though decent fruit.

May 31, 2019 - Bought a case last fall from Berman's, my local wine shop for $12/bottle, on the recommendation from the shop. i'm always hunting for good quality, interesting wines that are not outrageously expensive. Finally had a chance to try it tonight. Dark purple, good acidic tartness, grapey fruit, but not complex. At this stage, I rate it a good value. It certainly gives as much pleasure as some 2009 Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux that I paid $19 for about 8 years ago. Will let you know later how it ages.

March 21, 2019 - Fruit forward, medium plus nosy and balancing acidity, soft bit present tannin. Pleasant wine, good value.

August 25, 2018 - Clear medium ruby; clean medium minus nose of cedar, rhubarb and wet cotton; dry; pfn with cocoa and sour cherries; medium plus acidity; medium plus tannins; medium finish; medium body; not a bad wine, not a great wine - meh; best of the 3 that we blind tasted that night
