Community Tasting Notes 43

March 2, 2024 - Early Mar 2024, Rheingau Gourmet Festival, rarity diner “25 vintages of Chateau Montrose”: bottle immediately opened before consumption; dark crimson color; sour, acidic nose; much more approachable in the mouth with cherry juice like flavors; however, accompanied by notable acidic imperfections.

Not fully enjoyable, but clearly drinkable and even a bit better showing than at my last encounter with this Montrose vintage in Feb 2011 (see CT note).

    Vintages of flight III:
    1952 - 1953 - 1966 - 1976 - 1979 - 1981

July 23, 2021 - Still very vibrant and fragrant
Young herbal and cherry notes. Aging very well
Tobacco, green tea, wet leave and mushroom

    Nice

January 15, 2021 - Utterly, utterly, utterly and ridiculously undrinkable.
Mushy cork that was hardly staying in place. Mega Scheisse.

December 25, 2020 - Dead with slight vinegar nose. Very likely linked to poor cork used by Montrose. I doubt that my 2 remaining bottles will be better.
