December 23, 2014 - Drinking beautifully. Fruit in background, & structure that kicks ass! Silky smooth, lots of minerality & terroir, making me think of Montalcino!

November 9, 2012 - Well structured but there isn't enough fruit to complement it. Il save the rest in hopes the structure mellows sooner than the fruit disappears -- no reason to consume now

November 17, 2011 - This was just OK. Felt a little "modern" for my taste with some very clean black fruit and an odd acidity that seemed almost contrived. A weird, angular structure, too. The good news is that it's still very well made, and that it goes well with food. But it would be hard to pick out as a Brunello in a blind tasting.

July 30, 2011 - Decanted 1 hour. Medium dark, brilliant color. Deep but reticent nose slowly reveals Eastern spices, a lifted savory element and a touch of forest floor--all singing well together. Still firm with bright acidity and some tannin nicely framing the deep red and black fruit flavors. Seems to have settled in for the long run. Will sparge with argon and try again tomorrow. 91 points for now. Day 2: much more expressive aromatically but still rather taut and firm. Needs a couple more year. 2013-2015.

May 9, 2010 - Decanted 2 hours. Ripe nose of spiced cherries and plums with leather, herbs and moist earth. Richly textured flavors of sweet fruit, licorice and some baker's chocolate, good acidity and powdery tannins. While clearly a modern style, the grip and structure frame the ripe fruit and provide some welcome definition and lift. This ends with a long and persistent finish. Very impressive. 92 points. Now through 2014.
