Community Tasting Notes 20

May 25, 2019 - Dark, ripe and fruity. As someone else said in an earlier note, this might be a little too ripe. This wasn’t bad with grilled Delmonico steaks, but it was too ripe and fruity on its own for me.

Day 2: I like how the fruit has receded some. The wine shows a little more tart and higher acidity. However, there is more oak showing today, which I don’t prefer. I like this more today, I guess, but this is not something I would buy again.

February 14, 2019 - Consistant with last tasting. Very good barbera.

    September 22, 2018 - Dark & concentrated, slightly overripe?
    Seemed lacking in acidity
    Lots of oak?
Enjoyable with food but nothing spectacular

February 12, 2018 - Wonderful barbera. Sweet and extracted fruit. Very powerful and serious. Not too much extraction, just enough to blow me away. I really, really like the Mascarello wines.

October 13, 2017 - Big, juicy and supple. Plenty of fruit, nice concentration. Wanted to like it more, but just too much oak on the palate for me now. Hint of vanilla, toasted wood -- maybe these flavors will integrate better in a few years.
