December 27, 2018 - A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. 13% alcohol.

Luminous and quite deep black cherry color. Dense, brooding and somewhat modern-ish nose with dark-toned aromas of plummy dark fruit, juicy blackberries, some cherry marmalade, a little bit of garrigue, light inky tones, a hint of something vaguely rubbery and a sweet touch of licorice. The wine is full-bodied, lively and quite dense with ripe, somewhat extracted and super-juicy flavors of strawberries, some peppery spice, a little bit of of plummy dark fruit, light woody notes of sweet oak spice, a hint of something rubbery and a subtle, funky touch of barnyard and leather. The wine is high in acidity with ripe and quite gentle medium tannins that slowly pile up on the gums. The finish is slightly grippy with lengthy flavors of peppery spice, sanguine notes of iron, some stony minerality, a little bit of wild strawberry, light smoky phenolic tones, an earthy hint of garrigue and a touch of leather.

A slightly modern, extracted and chewy Provencal red wine, but one that still manages to come across as very balanced and enjoyable. Although the wine feels quite big and burly, it doesn't feel particularly heavy - the high acidity helps a lot here - and the taste department is enjoyably complex with a nice, funky undertone that doesn't overwhelm but lends a nice, rustic touch to the overall feel. Although accessible already, I can see this wine continuing to develop in a cellar. Great value at 15€.
