September 19, 2019 - Subtle yet maturing cherry and raspberry fruit on the nose with a earthy herbal note. Balanced acid and tannins let the fruit express itself well with gentle spice from the wood and short dry fruit finish.
A gentle wine, not bad with Atlantic salmon.

October 7, 2015 - While shopping at Costco, this wine caught my eye because of its Willamette Valley designation in conjunction with its 2012 vintage date. From previous experience, I was aware that it was almost impossible to make bad Pinot from Willamette Valley grapes in 2012. I accordingly puchased the bottle on a whim, wondering if Costco could succeed with Pinot Noir the way that it does with batteries, paper towels, wild salmon, etc. (in terms of value). This wine proved that Costco can deliver a quality Pinot at a ridiculously low price! Medium-to-deep ruby in color, it offers aromas and flavors of Bing cherries, raspberries, coriander and cocoa. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and without noticeable alcohol (12.8%), it wraps its flavors with light sweet tannins. While it does thin a bit in the middle, the resurrected finish is smooth and medium in length. I would not assume that Costco could replicate such a wine (at the same price) in a lesser vintage, but this 2012 is worthy of a trial. Drink now-2018.
