Ruby red in color, with edges of pink (sorry... no other way to discribe it). Notes of cranberry, cherry and mushroom, with a hint of oak. On the palate it is hard to believe this is 100% Sangiovese. It is medium to full bodied with good dried cherry flavor, and hints of the mushroom coming through. Very nice tannins, although I think a little time in the bottle will make them very lush. Good acidity, but a disappointingly short finish. If this finish were better, I'd put this around 91. However, with the short finish, I'd have to say 87-89 points. Still, for $13... we've found the table Tuscan wine we've been looking for since our honeymoon.

This 100% Sangiovese is one of the finest wines you will ever have under $20. This opulent wine exhibits a rich, full-bodied, chewy texture, slight acidity, and well-integrated flavors of raw oak. The massive finish is silky smooth and as good as young red wine gets. This is one of the biggest NO-brainers ever. This is the kind of wine that I put my reputation on the line for.

August 10, 2004 - [Unpaired] nice sipping wine, balanced, chewy, but unremarkble; most notably decanted for 2 days (because I forgot to throw it out) held up very well even on the third day.
