May 3, 2024 - Clearly drinking at the beginning of its prime. Really, can it get any better than this? I’ll leave that one last point just in case my last bottle, which I will probably drink in another four or five years, manages to surpass this one.

September 1, 2023 - Went head to head vs 14 Promontory. Not completely fair as Promontory got a flash decant while the ‘crow was slow ox’d for 5 hours. By the last glass it obvious how completely different both wines were yet both were just stunning. The scarecrow is a beautiful wine, amazing tension and fruit integration. Will continue to improve for many years.

June 16, 2023 - An awesome wine that is aging well. Very smooth and balanced, a superb Napa Cab.

January 1, 2023 - Decanted and drank over three hours. Last glass may have been best, but it was a slow process. Restrained fruit and mineral. Right now, I prefer the 13 and even the 12.

December 1, 2022 - Popped and let air for approximately 45 minutes in the bottle. Beautiful nose of black fruits, a hint of vanilla and spice. In the glass, opaque, dark red in color. Beautiful flavors of black cherry, Cassis, a hint of blueberry? Super young, with many, many years ahead, but couldn’t resist opening. Paired with veal chops, this was a stunner. Drink now, with at least two hours, decant in a flat bottom decanter, or hold for another 3 to 6 years for further development. Beautiful wine!
