Community Tasting Notes 3

August 27, 2020 - Immediately more generous with incense and almonds, black currants and cherries, than the 2011 that stayed blunt, reductive and oaken all 5 days I had it open this winter. Pleasing popcorn note on the nose 2 days in, and canned pineapple (I think someone else detected this in a different vintage) and papaya lurk on the palate. Muscular af; I think I prefer more gossamer Bourgogne at this time, but I'm a bit of a noob, so what do I know? As if to confirm my ignorance, I'll confess to the heresy of occasionally 50/50ing this with small amounts of Bodegas Nekeas 2017 Chapparal; the finish goes on for minutes
Eh; 1 minute. And smells like African black soap. It's a good thing

4 days in, the last glass attained the cherished Poise. That said, I join several other trackers across multiple vintages who wish this was just a little more complex. Or acidic. Or something

July 28, 2018 - Decanted for 4 hours. This is a fabulous wine that should be at it's best in 3-5 years. Floral notes and red berries that paired fantastic with slow smoked turkey drumsticks. The finish was a long minute.

April 21, 2018 - Shared in a group of 5, it didn't last long. Given how young this is it drank really well. Floral note up front with dark fruits. Not the most complex of wines, but very nice balance. Smooth tannins.
