January 1, 2024 - This is classically elegant mature Barolo being medium bodied with aromas of rose petals, tar and anise with some secondary forest floor notes together with discreet acidity and residual tannic grip. I made the mistake of not standing up the bottle sufficiently long before serving with the result that there was some suspended sediment particles visible in the glasses but I don't think that this spoiled the taste. I recommend a long stand followed by decanting to minimise this, especially for those or their guests bothered by sediment. Very good.

May 13, 2022 - Barolo Tasting (Restaurant Krietsch, Schwäbisch Gmünd): Wines tasted blind. Opened a few hours before the tasting.
    Glass: WMF red Wine
Clear, deep garnet with some sediment. This bottle was not flawed but clearly past peak. Nose a bit tired. On the palate acidity and fruit has fallen apart, very mature. Drinkable for sure, but just a shadow of what it used to be.

May 9, 2021 - Bottle and level in perfect conditions. Nose extremely rich and typical of Barolo. On palate, again this is very classic Barolo from a good vintage. The wine is still in great conditions, mature now but will hold for many years at this level. Really enjoyed this one

April 19, 2021 - Wonderful nose upon opening that remained present throughout the time in decanter and in glass. Opened and decanted left in cellar for 2 hours and then on the table for a further three. Drank after a Roagna 09 and with roast lamb and contorni aubergine parmagiana.
The P didn’t live up to the N - not much complexity. I see none of the other notes mention it!
It had a good fruit core and was still alive but lacked real energy and length. We thought upon opening (when we had a glass) it would unfurl and reveal complexityand intrigue but it didn’t at any stage in the 5 hours. Nicely balanced but nothing outstanding in that regard either.
I very much enjoyed it but would only say this was a likeable wine. Don’t mean to be harsh on it but I was expecting a bit more from it given its cost and age. I have had grasso barbera before and really like it for what it is and this Barolo wouldn’t stop me trying more recent vintages of his top stuff.
I don’t have much experience of how Barolo ages but I’d guess this may have peaked and be on its downward trajectory. That said the nose was young and the fruit was very present so at the risk of being contradictory I don’t think there’s much rush to drink either.
90-91 points from me; Will ranked it much higher; I preferred the Roagna - horses for courses..?

February 15, 2019 - Barolo Ginestra: Right now in a perfect drinking window. A bouquet of rose pedals, some cherries and truffles. The palate shows a wonderful inner balance with everything in place. I would guess a perfect bottle can stay for another 5 years at this level.
