March 28, 2024 - Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Easter Edition 2024 (Asperg): Tasted blind blind. Clear, medium golden color. Freaky, herbaceous nose with some green apple. On the palate fine, lactic, smoky, yeasty and some bitter notes. Quite freaky and a bit unbalanced. Medium length. 88-89

September 23, 2023 - Splash decant. Straw gold. Acidity mostly gone but the tertiary stuff is brilliant. Nose has so much detail: bright citrus through to cooked apples. Doesn’t linger long on the palate. Drink now.

July 10, 2023 - Tried two bottles, both oxidized. Will drink up my younger vintages sooner. Seems to be a great wine but has to be consumed within an earlier age.

October 23, 2022 - Popped and poured. I am not a super Chenin Blanc fan (except for a few Loires I have had), but this wine grew on me as I drank it after PnP. Deep, dark yellow. Five South Africans I met in St. Emilion ten days ago told me this bottle in my cellar was a good one, and they were right. Pretty, honeyed, floral aromas. Fairly rich palate, too, minerals with light-on-its-feet bees' wax and lanolin fruit. Bone dry. In short, textbook. Age has been kind to this, and it is in no real danger of decline for some time to come. 4-12-17-8: 91/100. (For lovers of this grape, my rating will probably seem low, as this is seamless and well-balanced.)

It doesn't happen often, but more sipping makes me want to increase my rating, as this is really quite lovely, ethereal, and combines delicacy with power. 4-13-17-9: 93/100.
