Community Tasting Notes 14

May 12, 2013 - Decanted for 2 hours. Lovely nose of sun, garrigue, and just a little menthol. Moderate fruit, a decent mid-palate, but the finish just disappeared, nothing there. Surprisingly hot - bottle said 12.5ABV but it tasted closer to 14-15.

May 3, 2013 - Much better than I expected, given the vintage. Round and mature black fruit, subdued oak, some fresh acidity at the finish.

    VISUEL: carmin

February 27, 2011 - I liked this more then I expected. First it was reportedly a crappy vintage, and Guigal has a rep for using a lot of new oak.
The wine was certainly of its place, N Rhone syrah in the nose and mouth. Some violet florals and red fruit, a little black pepper spice.
The fruit tannin seemed resolved and there was a little oak tannin left. Fairly bright acidity, which was welcome and not too much.
There was some oak present, in the sweetness up front and the dry tannin at the finish.
Overall better then expected and not difficult to drink.

February 22, 2011 - Syrah and Grenache from al over the World (Wine Route Tel Aviv): Opaque purple color. In the nose ripe fruits, vanilla and alcohol. Full bodied, but lacking backbone. Good acidity (80$).
