February 19, 2023 - Napa Merlot. Pulled alongside another Oakville wine (a 2009 Paradigm Cab Franc) and what a great combo this was. Enjoyed with a white chicken pizza with mushrooms, olive and spinach, this Merlot had a lot of great things to offer. Silky and smooth, black cherry, ripe raspberry fruitcake, dash of black pepper starting from the front end. Spicy yet the fruit core shines through on this one. Not the most complex wine but it's a great accoutrement to food, and it added a nice balance to the darker, older Oakville cab franc and added a more youthful character to the trio.

February 14, 2023 - SloOx for 4-5 hours. Strong tobacco and dark, dark cherry. Sweetness from heavy oak presence. Perfect accompaniment for American steakhouse dinner. Totally pleasant at this time. I was surprised to see it is 15.4%. Not sure whether it will develop any substantive tertiary elements.

October 14, 2020 - I love merlot and I'm an annual fan of this one. This needs more time. What I gathered was a fairly shut down nose. Plush entry. This is cab lovers merlot. Cassis, plum skin and a fairly strong tomato leaf signature (which is in my opinion how merlot got it's bad name a few years back and I found it stronger than I like here). Short, dry finish with some grip. Again, this isn't ready. I'll score my next bottle. This needs another 2-3 years. From my passive, but cold Wisconsin cellar.

April 11, 2020 - Deep ruby color with medium legs. Cassis, new oak and blackberry on the nose. Blueberry, black cherry and plum on the palate. Long satin like finish

September 29, 2019 - Absolutely fantastic- nose was a dead ringer for opus one (estate is right down the street). I’m not a huge Napa fan but I knew there was a reason why I bought this at the winery a few years ago.
