Community Tasting Notes 6

  • angelcyn Does not like this wine:

December 28, 2023 - Second bottle, no change from the first, as before a confection and not a good one, very poor for a winery with such a reputation, third bottle has gone to a 'good home' someone who alleges to like this style, we shall see!

February 14, 2023 - Not a great example of the best Aussie Shiraz, to jammy to acidic a confection rather than a wine, some may love this, not me sadly.

October 2, 2022 - Right in between primary and tertiary notes, I really enjoyed this wine. Best bottle of it that I’ve had for sure and the only time I regret not having bought more. This is a powerful wine with great balance. You get the ripeness of the merlot with the pepper and lift of the shiraz. The cab helps to maintain the structure.

May 11, 2021 - Nice story, this wine is dedicated to Lorraine Ashmead, co-founder of Elderton Wines. Big and oaky CS and Shiraz blend. Deep ruby red in the glass.

Nose is expressive right out of the bottle. Smoked meat, pepper and dark chocolate with a core of jammy black fruit.

Palate is full with firm, astringent tannins, high acidity and pronounced alcohol.

Flavours are again oak dominant with menthol, leather and chocolate taking centre stage.

    Medium finish.

I think this will improve. Drink 2023-2031.

February 23, 2021 - Kfrench nailed for me, nothing to about the experience. Same. Sadly, this used to be a real meaty homey wine. Not too fined, earthy, very little touch to the grapes. Not this candidfied crap. This feels more like Ode to the Machines & Process & Scientists. CAUTION:No actual winemakers were hurt during this process. Sadly i bought this in Vietnam and paid a ridiculous high prem.
