May 14, 2023 - The colour is still youthful, pale lemon. On the palate, very intense fruit, oak present but well integrated and long finish. This is a powerful Chardonnay but all in lovely balance. Still has plenty left but really enjoyable now.

January 27, 2022 - 2014 Oakridge 864 Funder & Diamond Vineyard Drive Block Chardonnay was complex, elegant and precise. The developing Yarra Valley Chardonnay was clear and pale lemon in colour without any sediments. Freshly unscrewed, there were welcoming aromas of ripe red apples, lemon zest and spearmint. Over two hours of consumption, it gradually opened up riper tones of peach, as well as winemaking artefact of vanilla-flavoured popcorn.

The mouthfeel was dry and rather full-bodied, balanced by a medium level of rounded acidity. Flavours of apricot, honey and toasted hazelnut transitioned into gunflint smokiness and sage herbs in a long, harmonious finish. The alcohol level was at 13.5%. The empty bottle weighed 549 grams. The elegance and precision of this Yarra Valley Chardonnay was truly admirable.

From the information on the back label, the vines are cultivated on a north-facing slope, rich in red volcanic soil, at 240 metres above the sea level. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, and pressed gently on whole bunches. The juice is fermented in 25% new oak puncheons. The wine is matured sur lies in barrel for ten months, followed by another six months of ageing in tank prior to bottling.

October 10, 2021 - Excellent wine. Big developed flavours. Decided to decant partially to allow it to warm up. 2014 vintage not bottled until July 2015. Light colour. Light honey and oak on the nose. Lemon and peach aftertaste. Some mineral flavours on mid palate. Went really well with our Sunday night roast chicken.

March 22, 2020 - What a ripping chardonnay. It is in the more austere style, sill pale in colour and has a very tight and balanced structure with fruit and oak in perfect balance. This has plenty of life left in it.
