April 18, 2022 - My last review from 3/20 was incorrect as this is still not at its peak. I had this over 2 days and it was just as solid on day 2 as it was on day 1. On Day 1, I PnP'ed it but then threw it in the decanter for an hour which helped it open it up quite a bit. On day 2, it did not need the decanter.
Dark purple color with strong smells of black and blue fruit, mineral rich, chocolate notes on the back end, full and integrated tannins and balanced. This wine has it all, including tension and energy. Although 9 years old, from Napa, and made new world style, it has a long life ahead.
I had this wine with Fait Main's 2019 Las Piedras and they were similar yet distinctively different. They are 2 of my all time favorites and both come from the Southwestern corner of St. Helena.
I have always enjoyed Trespass but there is something about the 2013 vintage that is special. Very special.1 person found this helpful Comments (4) -

January 30, 2022 - Not decanted. After two hours of bottle air the wine has very concentrated berry flavors but the tannic backbone has definitely softened. As #1Wine notes, this has entered the back nine of its life.
We first purchased Trespass’ 2001 vintage (thanks to Tim Bouchet who still leads hospitality at Pride). A cursory review of my 82 Trespass notes shows our preference wanes at 7-9 years in all but the strongest vintages.1 person found this helpful Comment -

May 6, 2020 - Decanted but immediately got into this. Dark, brooding nose that comes across heavy but with enough fruit to get your interest. Early notes of eucalyptus and cedar faded after 30-45 mins.
This still seems amazingly young. There’s graphite, tons of black cherry and a silky finish that lingers forever.1 person found this helpful Comment -

March 23, 2020 - I decided to try this wine for the first time in 2020, and like I said last year, this is my favorite wine that I have tried thus far in 2020! Now - it is a pop and pour and I believe that it might be at its peak. hopefully, just like C19.
Dark purple in the glass, strong and sweet smell. Very well integrated tannins, nice acidity, strong mid-palate and a long silky chocolate finish. Just a spectacular bottle of wine.2 people found this helpful Comments (2)
