Community Tasting Notes 7

February 11, 2013 - Very dark plum color and penetrating nose. It took about an hour to open up and soften a bit. I would wait much longer to drink this baby.

April 20, 2012 - Drinking great. A good example of a well made Sangiovese.

August 10, 2008 - Dark fruit and coffe notes on the nose. Palate hums with dark fruit and cocoa, some dark cherry and coffee. Tannins are mostly resolved. A joy to drink.

March 13, 2008 - We popped this split while packing for the Turks & Caicos islands. The color is eight-ball black. This had an immediately huge nose. A dusty, rustic, nose of dark fruit. On the palate, the first impression is of immense richness, which hits first with raisins and black currant, but then which magically morphs into a silky smooth finish. A quite interesting combo -- an initial punch of flavor, which rolls into a silky finish. I have to emphasize again -- the nose is amazing -- there is a sweet earthiness to the nose. The overall finish is silky blackberries sliding blissfully along oblivious to the past, and quite content to be . . . . A nice treat before the long journey to Providenciale. In terms of aging, I have to say that given the power of the nose, it might turn into a wonderful treat in 10 years. But no need to wait -- the tannins are in balance now, and there is nothing harsh, overbearing, or out of tilt to worry about. The finish now is silk -- at least in this 375 ml. Enjoy!!

January 1, 2008 - Very solid Sangiovese. Don't drink a lot of these, but this was quite nice. Fruity upfront, some chocolate notes, nice drying finish. Tannins are nicely resolved at this point. Good drink.
