October 19, 2023 - Outstanding Barolo, consistent with my previous notes. Opened to breathe for 2h, and decanted at Leña in LA. Huge nose of violets, roses, and vanilla rolling out of the decanter. All the classic nebbiolo traits on display, deep red berries, vanilla, baking spices, tar, still plenty of tannins (!), and a long finish with balanced acid. A wow experience, it evaporated during the appetizer course, featuring wagyu carpaccio. WOTN. 95/96

February 18, 2023 - Yes this was excellent, decanted for an hour which is not enough for this wine to show its best. Next time will decant longer.

July 9, 2020 - Decanted for Garth's b-day. Wow! This is up there with the best Barolo's I've enjoyed, pretty amazing with a huge fragrant nose of roses, cedar, spices, tar, and on the palate just a crashing wave of bright red fruit, more spices, chewy tannins, black pepper, graphite, mineral. Singing in her prime! 94/95

August 13, 2019 - Opened to breathe at 10 am for a dinner party at Garth’s. Still monolithic, could have opened it even earlier in the morning. This is a big, intense Barolo, consistent with my previous note. This will benefit from more years in the cellar. 94/95

May 31, 2019 - At the winery, benchmarked against the '13 crus and the '09 riserva. The bottle was opened in the same morning and given ample opportunity to breathe slow ox. This '08 riserva is awesome. Complex perfumy nose, an interplay of classic roses and violets, stands out 1" from the glass.
