August 9, 2015 - Still drinking well--probably not going to get better. Gave it a couple hours in the bottle before drinking. The mushroomy flavors quickly dissipated and it went very well with a grilled steak and sautéed wild mushrooms. Dark berries and dried fruit, leather, and oak on the palate. Firm tannins and nice finish.

May 9, 2015 - Meaty nose right after opening, some earthy mushroom notes. Good balance of tanins and acidity with some remainder of fruit (in 2015). Well balanced and great food wine.

September 25, 2013 - With the low ratings this was getting I opened with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. This is not a big wine and the oak is very subtle. It is however a warm, balanced, and flavorful wine with building nuances. Gentle flavors of earth, baking spices, and cedar. Drinking fine now and should last several more years.

April 15, 2012 - Decanted for 4+ hours, served with roast beef, root vegetables and sauteed pea shoots. At opening, it smelled sour and tasted like sour nothing, but with time, a few subtle hints of earth and leather emerged. Still, weak sauce long past its prime.

April 26, 2011 - Opened this bottle to accompany a special leg of lamb dinner, and it served that purpose well. But I was looking for more "oomph". Maybe too nuanced for me?

edit: several days later, after stored in the fridge vacu-vinned, it is showing more oak and fruit, especially mid-palate and finish which is very long.

    Next bottle should be decanted.
