March 26, 2022 - A big surprise for a long stored Marcassin. Deep golden color and I feared way past prime. The nose was perfect with toast, vanilla and pineapple notes. Wonderful viscosity, vanilla and a whisper of oak, no off notes, and long finish. Delicious with branzino bass and a tropical mango salsa. A real treat.

October 16, 2020 - Remarkable wine, slightly more oxidative, slightly more color than the '92, but more character, more apple skin and nuttiness, and more verve. Bit more lift and a killer long tangy finish. This wine is sailing and doing very well. Although I liked the '92 at first for the clean flavors and richer mouth, this had more character and structure. Sandy's old champagnes dinner.

July 24, 2016 - Palate slightly overwhelmed by heat. Otherwise, very interesting notes of crushed stone, orange rind, poached pear. Hermitage blanc's distant cousin.

December 3, 2015 - Pineapple on palate, stone on finish. Some heat (from alcohol) showing. It is a loose resemblance of a new world chardonnay to an old hermitage blanc.

(Marcassin Chardonnay E Block Hudson Vineyard) Medium canary yellow color; floral, almond, hazelnut nose with a touch of wax; distinguished, tasty, not oxidized on palate, tart clementine, baked lemon, mineral palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish
