Community Tasting Notes 9

April 11, 2008 - Iliked this but not like I remembered the first bottle. It had that nice tea, berry flavor with a hint of brown sugar but then finished with a bit of bitterness that kept it from being exceptional. Happy to have it but not wowed.

January 20, 2007 - What luck. A store in Portland picked up a load of this just recently. Most enjoyable. We paid just shy of $20. Can't do much better at the price. Drinking perfectly right now.

September 11, 2005 - Not nearly as nice as the Hirsch Vineyard from this same vintage, but a good value Pinot nevertheless. Earthy violet and cherry jump out initially, and the palate shows some currant, rasperry and, toward the back end, a little bit of barbecue. The finish is long and minerally, but just a touch bitter. All in all, this is a little off-center, I think, but not bad for $23.

January 6, 2005 - Decant 1hr. Medium Body. Deep black cherry and toasty strawberry notes with a slight touch of spice. Nice palette and smooth structure

November 5, 2004 - Nice foresty nose, cherry cola in the middle, nice long peppery finish. Undertones of perhaps dried figs. A little tannic. Really nice nose; classic pinot characteristics. Might be better in a year or two, but pretty enjoyable now. Had it with a simple chiecken dish that it worked pretty well with, even if it slightly overwhelmed. Fair value at $25.
