October 30, 2020 - Bottle shipped from Europe last year; cork appears younger than close to 30 yrs age (as does the wine). Deep garnet with an orange to modest clear rim. Stunningly rich, classy cherry fruit combined with some of the mature autumnal stuff that makes me swoon, old burgundy lover’s catnip. WAY better than I expected, loads of life and energy, balanced and actually gets better with air. None of the over-ripe, coarse and torrefacted qualities that afflicted many of the 1990s. Would love to have a case of this to follow over the next 20+ years!

March 22, 2015 - From a nice looking bottle with a 2 cm fill, this wine had a deep red center with some orange at rim. The medium intensity nose showed cherries, rhubarb, brown spices, and some soil.

In the mouth, this wine was ripe with a silky mouth feel. It had light, rounded tannin and good length.

Overall, this wine still seems a bit young and restrained (which is a bit hard to imagine given it is a 25 year old Beaune premier cru). It is certainly approachable but over the 4+ hours it was open it seemed to get stronger and more nuanced. I certainly don't think there is any rush......

December 16, 2012 - Seemed like it was on the way down. Relatively interesting nose, but very light/without intensity. Rebuy: not this one, though current years, yes.

July 1, 2011 - popped and poured. color ruby with lightening edges. nose started with tobacco and menthol. after being open for an hour started to put on weight, gaining dark fruit (mostly plum) and later anise/licorice. on the palate mostly dried cherry and spice tea. finish medium long, tart, and became stemmy after a couple of hours.nose better than palate. if you have some i would enjoy in the near term. i am not seeing much upside left.

November 5, 2009 - Three splits drunk in past year, all rather thin and going over the hill. Frankly disappointing for 1990 Burg. Could be better from 750 or larger format. Drink up.
