March 27, 2010 - Very interesting wine. Opened and drank over the course of three days. When first opened, it was apparent that there wasn't much bricking--in fact, it looked like a much younger wine. Kind of odd notes of dusty gravel, earth, and chorizo fat at first, which blew off pretty quickly to lots of black cherries, some herbal elements, and even some graphite.
The bottle had no mention of alcohol %, but I think it was around 14%--though well integrated. Continued to improve over the course of the next two days, and the last glass I had was the best: the palate was fuller with much more profound fruit. I really enjoyed this and it was a complete surprise. I have two more to play around with, and it seems like I can take my time with them.
