August 14, 2023 - A miraculous bottle. Impossibly clean and fresh. Gold colour. Rich booming nose. Reminiscent of a 1991 Lafon Perrieres earlier this year in terms of weight and development. White spice and saffron. Dense and powerful palate. Toasty nut character. Shockingly youthful, fresh, energetic, but with the distinct weight and mature nuance that only prestige old white bottle can sometimes develop. Quite an amazing surprise.

March 15, 2023 - Flickinger dinner at avec River North (Chicago, IL): More interesting than good. Definitely on its last legs, and not particularly Corton-Charlemagney at that. Thin on the palate, this is kind of in the same vein as a recent 2002 Clape where the wine is solid, but drinks like an old version of a very much lower appellation. Nonetheless you can tell this was made in that old-school white Burgundy style with its (attempted?) hefty weight and breadth.

December 19, 2021 - A fun off-the-run vintage of Martray CC. In great shape, and while not a rock star it was quite enjoyable. Love surprises like this on the wine trail.

April 19, 2018 - Will T’s (30th) 87s (Noizé, London): Pristine bottle, palest lemon flesh in colour. Lovely nose, mineral, lemon, slightly floral. Lots of line and grip and interest. Positively youthful. Why, oh why...! ****

March 16, 2018 - Roty dinner. From magnum. Modest reduction and resolved with light acidity.
