October 10, 2022 - Last bottle of a case from my stepfather’s collection. Stored in the same cool and dark place for at least 23 years. Base of neck fill level. Cork was completely crumbled, (should have used an Ah-so!) so I pushed the last whole piece into the bottle and then decanted. Gorgeous brick-red classic vintage claret colour. Tannins almost completely resolved but still hanging in there! Decanted for one hour. Really very lovely. Fully mature claret Probably another 2-3 years left with particular this bottle. What a treat!

January 1, 2016 - The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), fig, cedar and black pepper. It tastes like black currant (cassis), mushroom, oak, tobacco and meaty. The body is full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

This was a magnificent wine, and still tasted young. The tertiary flavours you expect were there, but there was still quite a bit of that berry youthfulness to the wine. I don't think this wine has peaked quite yet.

October 26, 2002 - Warm, positive, mature appearance; fully developed nose, violets, tea, milk chocolate and oak; seductive and shapely, elegantly fleshy, refreshing acidity, sturdy tannins, vivid fruit of strawberries and raspberries, dry but well-balanced, stylish; good length.
