Community Tasting Notes 10

March 25, 2023 - Tobaco and cigar is mostley dominant on the nose. The palate is a very acid-driven vintage that lacks elements to fullfil a great experiance. I believe it is over the top.

Drank at BYOB with Finewines members in Sollentuna.

March 24, 2023 - BYOB - Bordeaux Red, Finewines.se (Sollentuna, Sweden): Very mature, mushroom, burnt wood, high acidity, short, alcohol at the end. A bit too old for my taste.

August 21, 2022 - Cork was in really good shape, you can tell this bottle had been stored properly. Slow ox’d in bottle and drank over 2 hours.

Tannins were muted, earthy notes on the nose, some kind of pepper on the finish. This was clearly past it’s peak, but was elegant and savory nonetheless. This was very surprising and enjoyable. Wish I had another.

November 22, 2018 - Rated on pure enjoyment, and a high engagement factor. Medium deep color, just a hint of brick at the edge, subtle but classic mature aromas on the nose. Cork had adhered itself to the walls of the bottle neck and became a crumbly mess. No matter...
After some decanter time, it quietly invited me to hold hands and we blissed-out together for the next four hours as it continued to reveal itself. The bottle was empty long before it ever got tired. Even my 21 year old son enjoyed it. Purchased in 1990 (Butterfield's SF auction room $175/case), cellared well ever since.

November 22, 2014 - The cork came out in one piece, though the wine had travelled most of the way up. It needed time to blow off a slightly reductive nose, but a 10 - 15 minute decant saw it morph into elegance. Sweet red fruit evident, good line and length, and a lovely aged Bordeaux with florals still present and secondary characteristics of pencil shavings and a bit of funk
