February 15, 2013 - Smells of deep purple fruits, oak, alcohol, and slightly of wet earth. Tastes of sweet fruits and rough earth & oak. The finish is slightly tart. Drink now.

December 13, 2012 - Smells of mushrooms, leather, very dark fruits, & slightly of cassis. Tastes of dark black fruits, earth, & smoke. Slightly chewy, too. Medium-full bodied. Drinking beautifully.

November 25, 2011 - Smells of earth, barnyard, mushrooms, & dark black cherries (possibly plum as well). Tastes of dark black fruits, leather, tobacco, & smoke. Medium-Full bodied. Much better not decanted. Ready to drink & delicious.

July 21, 2011 - Smells of soft fruit & earth - very light and rounded. Tastes of tobacco & leather and not much fruit. It tasted very smooth, rustic, and earthy, but still showed moderate tannins, especially on the tongue. It was very enjoyable, but I was surprised by the lack of fruit. Perhaps this is running out of shelf life. These notes were taken after about an hour in the decanter.

Rich purple, youthful color. Immediately after opening there were prominent notes of pepper and coffee/cocoa on the palate and bramble fruits on the finish. The mouth feel was very smooth and VERY fruity. After about two hours, there were berries on the nose (more like a Medoc), smoke on the palate and a refreshing and lively finish. However, the fruit on the palate just became overwhelming after a while. This wine also made me think of Cab. Sav. from Beringer and Long Island wines instead of Pomerols.

(2 days later) I still found the wine enjoyable and I drank it well chilled as I just took it from the fridge. For my taste, there was still too much fruit, but I could taste the French roots and there was a really beautiful cinnamon/spice note on the finish today. I'm still finding it hard to imagine what I would eat along side this wine.
