June 5, 2023 - (SYP) Excellent fill level. PNP
Old gold colour. A beautifully buttery and spicy nose with also notes of coconut oil, ripe apples and caramelised cashews. It had an impression core of rich fruit, great intensity, good length, freshness and weight. It held up well over the 3 hours but did not have much evolvement. This bottle was a tad less fresh than the one I had 4 years ago.

March 24, 2019 - During a Paulée dinner, so only brief impressions. A contender for the white WOTN among strong competition of top names. This was superb with biscuit, crushed corn, citrus, minerals. Long finish.

April 16, 2016 - Golden in colour, viscous. Rich; hazelnuts and a minerally, saline, bergamot, violet streak that lingers in the glass long after the wine has been drunk. There is a rich, mouth filling quality to the wine but it still feels closed, caught between a primary and tertiary stage, even a touch oxidative in style (mealy mouthed), a product of wine making rather than terroir. Real potential, depth & intensity. It could blossom one day. Try in 5 or 10 years.

December 23, 2006 - Showing mature golden straw color; nose of golden apple with exotic spice and "baking smells"; soft entry, initially flabby texture and hints of tropical fruits which are then joined by a gorgeous rush of acidity which coats the palate like a great Sauternes. This latter effect keeps the length going on for more than a full minute and is something I cherish in a fine aged white burg. 1993 was trashed as a terrible white burg vintage d/t "lean, austere wines". I suspect that initial austerity is what gives this wine its current blast of freshness carrying it through to show much, much better than I ever expected at 13 years of age. And it gives no indication of crashing from old age. This is my second great '93 white burg tasted this year.
