Community Tasting Notes 9

October 28, 2020 - Complex and layered aroma of smoked vanilla beans, ripe blackcurrant, mint, clove and bbq fat on the nose. Savoury, rich and delicious. The palate very much echoed the nose, fresh acidity to balance the rounded structure. Impactful entry, just a touch hollow in the middle, ending with the usual Cabernet powerful. Texture is smooth from entry to finish, which has some grippy tannins indicating that this needs a few more years of aging. Decant for at least an hour if you want better integration of the tannins to the structure. Not on the same level as the 2015 vintage.

Retasted in Mar 2021. A touch more subtle in the nose and elegance in the palate. Don’t see this evolve more, should keep well for the next 3 years. No change in score.

December 10, 2019 - Smooth as silk, a delicious body of ripe fruit without being over sweet. Hints of dark chocolate, peppermint, eucalypt and cigar box. in an excellent drinking window now and further improvement likely in a good cellar. 93+

July 7, 2017 - Opened alongside the '98 and '06. Whilst this is good, with Blackberry, mint, drying tannins, and some Shiraz to complement the young Cabernet, this is exposed as painfully young. The bones are there, and the wine is perfectly fine on its own, but the other stellar vintages show how this could turn out in another 10-15 years. Hold if you can.

May 14, 2017 - The wine looks purple colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, blueberry and black currant (cassis). It tastes like blackberry, mint, cool/menthol, eucalyptus and bell pepper. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.
