May 7, 2024 - My last bottle of this wine. Cork in perfect condition, wine is in great shape. Some other bottles were hit or miss for me. The tannins on this are largely resolved, but still sufficient to age it a bit longer. The nose is fairly closed, with licorice and herbal notes prevailing over the cherry and oak. The wine went very well with food. It's unique and quite tasty. The 15% abv shows on the palate.

June 19, 2023 - This is a beautiful wine, although it tastes like it's 30 years old instead of 15. It shows significant tertiary notes despite having been stored in a wine cellar for the past 10 years. 2009 was an early-drinking year for Italy, and this shows it. This probably won't get better from here, although it should hold for several years yet.

January 1, 2023 - Decanted 1 hr. Drank over 2 days. Day 2 was noticeably tastier than day 1. Nice but muted nose. Tastes of darker fruits, cherry and hints of chocolate.

Best wine of 2021? Chocolate, strawberry, holiday spices. nice acidity.
