Very sweet but superbly balanced, spicy dessert wine without any of the high toned florality of this varietal. Really one of the best late harvest Gewürztraminers I've ever had. Will easily last another decade. I had tasted this at the domain last year, and this bottle was every bit as good.

It is so sweet and rich that it sets aside the more assertive varietal scents and flavors. My goodness, this is an essence of dessert wine with its apricot and pineapple fruit and unbelievable density leavened by great acidity. Its finish is amazing. Although I am not a big proponent of this varietal, I think this is a stupendous young dessert wine which should last forever given its exquisite balance.

  March 10, 2017 - A visit to Maison Trimbach; 3/10/2017-3/11/2017 (Alsace, France): Golden in color. The nose has honey and white raisins. Vsicous. On the palate, slightly bitter as Gewurz may be with a honeyed quality to it. Sweet but not cloying. Long, long finish. I really enjoyed this a lot but I couldn't justify the expensive price tag on this. I know this is not really what Trimbach is all about and that this is a rare and special wine though, so it was a real treat to be offered this.
