February 5, 2017 - Not sure I've ever had a varietal malvasia nera before. I was subconsciously expecting something lighter and not too serious like many (not all) versions of white malvasia. However, this wine was a deep dark color, and reminded me of a hypothetical blend of malbec and dolcetto, not only in color, but also in aromas and flavors -- dark chocolate and plum, with an underlying grapey-ness that I often find and don't particularly relish in dolcetto. This wine had ample tannins and good acidity and was a bit rustic and burly. Interesting quaff and I'm glad I tried it, but I wouldn't want it every night of the week.
