Community Tasting Notes 16

July 25, 2008 - Nothing to write home about, fancy label and catchy name. I should have known better!

Woody nose coupled with alcohol burn. Fruit worked hard to overpower the alcohol when tasting it, but the alcohol won. Let is sit overnight and it still tasted hot, I just can't get behind it. I guess for the price this is about as expected.

January 28, 2008 - Popped and poured. Fruit came on strong at first, a touch tart in fact. This subsided after an hour or so, becoming much more balanced. Decent tannins, though perhaps a bit green, and even a slight note of what could very well be chocolate. Pleasantly surprised by this bottle. Simple but solid. Heading out for more this week.
Next Day: Mellowed nicely into a smooth medium-to-full bodied Bordeaux-blend style. Excellent with rarish lamb chops.

November 20, 2007 - Cherry and cola on the nose. Black cherry on the attack. Some cola on the mid-palate with a cocoa finish. Some vegetal notes as well. Great for the price. A good choice for an every day wine.

September 11, 2007 - Rich smell, like a Cahors. Similar flavour too. Nice & dry. High good (84.5).
