Community Tasting Notes 1

April 2, 2022 - Simple but pleasant - this was a very drinkable Mercurey. It had a sweet nose, not quite new world, but not too far away, with red cherries and strawberries ringed with a touch of rose petals. Very floral. There was a touch of sulphur to the taste at first, but that blew off with a bit of time to show a light, bright red-fruited palate of more cherries and strawberries framed by fresh acidity and silky, barely there tannins. There was just a touch more chew at the finish, which glided away with a kiss of mineral and spice. Altogether, fairly simple and unmemorable wine, but a balanced, yummy drink nonetheless.
