November 4, 2022 - During a walkabout tasting of Denz wines, only brief impressions. There has recently been a lot of hype around the Alvaro Palacios wines made in Bierzo with the Mencia grape. They are decent but I have yet to come across one that excites me. This wine from rocky soils was really rich and ripe, some oxidative and cooked fruit notes, looking at the professional ratings, I am a bit at loss!

October 21, 2020 - Spanish Tasting (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): medium minus gamey notes, funky, cherry, savoury, stony minerality. Juicy acidity, medium minus intensity chalky tannins, wetly juicy, fleshy, wild cherry, pleasingly refreshing after a lot of the wines tonight and arguably a little simple but this is rather charming.
