January 15, 2022 - smokey red fruit with a dark fruit overtone...lovely orange juice on palate mixes with dark fruits...a some stiff acid theres...boysenberry note blueberry... wet tobacco...I like how its not all super polished and isnt the fanciest winemaking..but its clean with some rustic cali fruit from 2015...blueberry cola on palate oh thats nice...quite a red color on the robe...effusive red notes from the start draw you in... havent had a ficition in years and been passing this by for many years...the wait was all for the better...

September 10, 2021 - Another wine from blue apron! This particular wine is from Paso Robles, and interestingly the winery was created when the owner transitioned from the vine-nursery business to winemaking. It is an eclectic blend of grapes: 48% Zinfandel, 15% Syrah, 14% Mourvèdre, 8% Graciano, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Touriga Nacional, and 3% Carignan.

Dark ruby in color with an inky black core, this wine is surprisingly aromatic with a nose full of blackberry jam, cherry, a bit of black olive and a slight herbaceousness. Upon sipping one is met with a beefy, full-bodied wine with moderate tannins and acidity, and the high alcohol content lends itself a silky, smooth character. Very fruit forward, ripe red cherry is apparent on the attack but is rapidly overtaken by a midpalate of ample blackberry jam, black plum, and raisin , after which oaky vanilla emerges a bit later. The finish is moderately long and fruity, leaving one with a lingering peppery spiciness, though it abruptly cuts off after a minute or so.

Overall, a very enjoyable wine! The Zinfandel is definitely at the forefront, but the Syrah and Mourvèdre do show themselves a bit in the wine’s spiciness and the black olive in the nose. This had tons of flavor, and I can’t complain! I feel like this would be a fantastic pairing with a grilled steak. Hmm, now I’m hungry.

July 31, 2020 - Very fruit forward. Dark and red cherries. Plum notes. Decanted and waited about an hour. Wonderful but could have used more time.
