September 16, 2023 - Cabernet Sauvignon 68%, Petit Verdot 32%
15% abv
Full body, deep purple colour. Impressive black fruits, sweet spices and leather aroma. Black currants, blackberry and plum palate following by liquorice, black olives, dark chocolate and lingering, hot finish, Rich, powerful and complex but huge alcohol affects balance, lovely wild berries’ acidity and resolved tannins. Food friendly, well pairing to medium rare beef steak. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Open one hours ahead. Drink now and the next eight years.2 people found this helpful Comment -

March 8, 2023 - 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Petit Verdot grapes sourced from the Yatir Forest in the Judaen Hills, altitude of nearly 3,000 feet above sea level, clay and limestone soil. Wine was aged for 14 months in French oak (1/3 new), 15% ABV and not-mevushal. Appearance was deep black core with royal purple beginning to fade to garnet, heavy viscosity. Nose was of heavy intensity and clearly incorporated notes of warm-climate cabernets and petit Verdot. Rich black and ripe red fruits and purple florals. Black currant, roasted plum sauce, pomegranate, raspberries, and a touch of fruitcake, violets, and lilacs, anise, sage, eucalyptus, tobacco leaf, leather, fresh tilled earth, ink, tar, sweet molasses, vanilla, cedar, and baking spices. The palate revealed that there is so much left on the body - still bold, full bodied, and powerful. Rich voluptuous fruits, still powerful tannins that make your mouth chalky, but they were oddly silky and very well integrated. Moderate acidity was a nice check to the rich fruit and the high alcohol. Cassis, blackberry jam, sugar plum, some black olive, black pepper, sage, tobacco, loamy dirt, fresh cream, cola, espresso, and lots of vanilla. Finish was long, bittersweet chocolate and blackberries. Very nice. I was nervous that this wine already peaked but I'm quite confident that this can be enjoyed for at least the next 5 years. This was a phenomenal vintage for Yatir, probably my favorite, and one of my favorite Israeli reds in the last decade. 93.

September 16, 2021 - Cabernet Sauvignon 68%, Petit Verdot 32%
Probably best Forest since 2008 and as good as 2005. Full body, deep purple color. Impressive black fruits, spices box, leather and black pepper aroma. Complex palate of black currants, blackberry, plum and black olives following by lingering liquorice finish, Rich, powerful and bold but slightly loses balance because high alcohol, wild berries’ acidity and already integrated tannins. Food friendly, well pairing to medium rare beef steak. Serve 18ºC - 20ºC. Open 2 hours ahead. Drink now to end of the decade.1 person found this helpful Comment -

October 11, 2017 - Full body, deep purple color. Elegant black fruits black pepper and floral aroma. Currants dewberry and dried plum with lingering spicy finish, Rich and complex, bold, well balanced, good acidity and muscular tannins. Food friendly, best match is grilled lamb. Serve 18º - 22º. Open at least 4 hours in advance. Too young and closed now, wait with it five years or more.

June 24, 2017 - Needed air. Bright crimson, nose dominated by red currents and plums, thyme and toffee. Sweet and powerful. Quite good, but very young, and I'm wondering if the tannins and acidity would support long cellering. But could easily be closer to 91-92 at peak.
