March 18, 2018 - An interesting blend of Cabernet and Carmeñere w/a bit of Syrah added. Requires a long time to breathe to allow both the nose and the taste to come into balance. In fact, this wine was distinctly better the second day. Without lengthy breathing the flavors are present and complex, but the tannins create a distracting astringency. After letting the wine aerate, it shows off dark fruit and raspberry flavors, a bit of minerality, and more balanced tannins. It has a clean, medium length finish. Perhaps a few years of bottle age may improve its drinkability when first opened, but with a bit of planning to let it breathe a few hours you will be well rewarded.
