May 19, 2023 - Really peaking now with lovely flavors of peach, honey and Sauternes minerals. Layered with an oily and very fine texture. Sweetness is medium and the wine is fresh and not cloying. A very classic example of what aged Sauternes should taste like. Out of half-bottles at Commanderie dinner at the French Consulate, NYC.

March 2, 2023 - Note: I use the recommended scale, so 85 represents a very good wine.

In full majesty if you like aged Sauternes, which I do.
Excellent balance. No signs of oxidization.
Last bottle was in 2014. Time has worked its magic.

I have one more -- who knows when?

June 14, 2019 - This bottle was gifted to me by Chris Y. in 1999 and is the second longest-held wine in my cellar (the first being a '70 Fonseca that was gifted to me in '95 or '96 that I still have in the cellar). Opened at a U.Michigan alumni event I hosted at Sopra. I picked up notes of slightly burnt crème brûlée that perhaps showed a bit too much char, baked peaches, botrytis and a hollow midpalate. One person at the table pointed out a lot of oak. This bottle was well received, perhaps because everyone liked the sweetness.

January 25, 2018 - Solid Sauternes. Amber honey with oak and some tangerine. Just lacking that extra bit of intensity and complexity to get it into the 90+ area. Still a good drop and paired well with the caramel custard dessert.

November 27, 2014 - Drank on Thanksgiving with foie gras pate. The wine tastes strongly of honey. If someone had told me it was mead, I would have believed them. I'm not sure I'm a fan. Perhaps it's past its prime. "B-minus."
