April 4, 2024 - Opened for 1 hour. Color is deep Ruby/Purple. ON the nose: Plums, cassis, espresso, some dark chocolate and graphite. On the palette: Plum, cassis, graphite and some tart red fruits. Good but too young. Needs ~ 3-5 years. Expect is to be really good. A lot of good stuff here.

February 17, 2023 - An easy afternoon with close friends; 2016 Bordeaux (@ FD): The bouquet has a slightly rustic impression, dark berries and some graphite. On the palate juicy red and dark berries, cherries, vanilla, well dosed oak, beautiful acidity and sticky tannin. This wine will probably enter its early maturity stage at the end of this decade and will offer beautiful drinking until 2040+. For now 93+

    August 4, 2021 - Decanted for around 3 hours.

Nose: Intense, open and youthful nose. Rich notes of ripe violet and dark fruits, black cherries and lots of plums can be detected. The dark fruity aromas predominate, but there are also red fruit aromas that show up again and again. Flashes of herbal spice (mainly eucalyptus) and white pepper make the nose very complex. There is also a nice secondary aroma of vanilla, white chocolate and medium toasting.
Very filigree - almost feminine how the Gr. Larose comes along. The fruit is super ripe, almost bordering on a little too ripe.

Palate: medium alcohol (13%), which is rare in today's BDX, medium ~+ tannins that show up ripe and well integrated while hinting at storage potential. Is young on the palate and less accomplished in terms of aromatic diversity than on the nose but the Larose shows great tension, medium + body and an unmissable awesome drinking flow! Very long finish.

From my perspective, Gr. Larose is a wine with a lot of value (which is not yet properly recognised internationally). Storage potential +30 years.

May 8, 2020 - Roundly disappointing. Drunk over two nights... while it shows fine tannin and some red fruit, there is a real lack of power. Now there is nothing wrong with finesse, but I have to question the value here... will I see myself drinking this in 2030 and rejoicing that I only paid $110? I don’t see that occurring.... there are other wines from the vintage that will develop and show more in the years ahead.

February 16, 2020 - Meaty nose, leather, hint of vanilla, ripe red cherries... Super silky tannins, sweet red strawberries, leather, very nice!!
