November 28, 2019 - My last bottle and after the previous one I was looking forward to seeing how this would be. It goes to prove the old adage that are not necessarily great wines but rather great bottles. This bottle was superb. It was a beautiful bright lemon yellow with slight gold tinges but no sign of oxidation. Nose was creamy, nutty and slightly oaky but superbly balanced and interesting, demanding a sip. The palate was gorgeous with bright acidity and flavors that included creamy vanilla, almonds, lemon, grilled peach and a long luxurious finish. Hard to believe this was 17 years old.

October 13, 2019 - I assumed this would be oxidized and worthless but I was wrong. This is the most modern, Cali styled chard in the Talbott lineup in my experience, usually showing lots of toasty oak and creamy butter. Decanted at 4:30 and tasted through about 9pm. It needed the air since it tasted a bit oxidized at first but actually was less so after an hour+ in a decanter in my cellar. Definitely a darker golden yellow color, showing its age. Nose was distinctly salty and nutty along with caramel. Palate is rich and expansive, showing lots of salty nuts, caramel, slight oxidation, apricot and mineral notes. We experimented with several foods paired with this. Honey roasted mixed nuts made this taste shockingly younger and smoother. It was also very good with a lightly dressed, mango vinaigrette salad with cashews and pecans. Surprisingly also good with a spicy crab cake. A very pleasant surprise from this 18 year old chard.

May 13, 2007 - Outstanding wine, but too expensive. I could pay $30 for this, but at $50 I feel I got clipped.
