  April 20, 2024 - Day one under Coravin for this wine made for an angular and a bit boozy showing, with a mechanical delivery that was fairly foursquare from front to back. The fruit wasn't as expressive as I usually associate with Colgin.
  
  Fast forward two days later where the cork was popped and allowed to properly breathe for a few hours before consumption. A huge improvement, though not as focused ultimately as a superb 2016 Colgin Tychson served beside it. The 2015 still stayed pretty serious, but it was generous enough that the purity of black and red cherry fruit was evident. It continued to climb in sophistication with time and air. My notes read, “Concentration continues to rise; fruit is very good black cherry with some soil. Finish offers even more flavor expansion. Not hot or angular anymore, with a solid depth of flavor. Yummy and slightly chewy ripe fruit gets more gushing but maintains supreme focus.”
  
  A superb wine, if but just missing that added finesse that other vintages of this wine have displayed. Best advice is to hold the 2015 until 2030. 96-97+ points.

  April 13, 2024 - The Blind Side - no, not football! (Chateau Simms): I am guessing the wine got at least 1-2 hours of slo-O before tasting, but honestly not sure about the bottle treatment/preparation before the tasting, i.e., it could be more.
  
  This was part of a blind tasting that included the following wines:
  
  1. 2010 Abreu Thorevilos
  2. 2021 Scarecrow
  3. 2015 Colgin Tychson Hill
  4. 2019 Sassicaia
  5. 2019 Domaine Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin
  6. 2021 Bella Oaks La Genie
  7. 2014 Caymus Special Selection
  8. 2014 Vice Versa Magnificent 7
  
  2015 Colgin Tychson Hill - I am not a huge fan of Colgin. They make good wines, but I feel a bit overpriced for what they are. However, (and this is why I like blinds sometimes) this bottle showed remarkably well. Nicely integrated red and dark fruit (mostly red and dark cherries) with dark chocolate and a nice creaminess I like. Add some earthiness, tobacco and sweet oak, and you have a fine that fits squarely in my wheelhouse! Some thought this was slightly boozy or hot, but I didn't taste any alcohol. I thought this was better than the Abreu and a hair behind the Scarecrow that preceded this wine. 96+
  
  As previously stated, I was surprised on the reveal! I never held Colgin in such high regard, but this made me think that I may need to rethink!

  April 13, 2024 - So damn good. It makes me love Colgin all over again. The last two Colgins were a bit disappointing, but this sucks me right back into it again.

  April 13, 2024 - Eyes Wide Shut - Day 1 (A quiet place): Nose: Forest floor funk, with gentle ripeness of black and red fruits. The funk calms down with time, leaving behind a cleaner forest floor trail.
  
  Palate: Pleasantly intense red and black fruits, deep earth and a black graphite that holds onto the fruits. Tasty finish of dark minerals and classy, dark fruits.
  
  The most put together and classy out of the lineup for me. There is a way this presented itself that I really enjoyed, nothing over-gushed. It held itself together with a consistent delivery, undisturbed, like laminar flow. My favorite of the lineup, beating the '10 Thorevilos by just a bit, only because this gave a tastier oomf for me.

  December 30, 2020 - Stunning wine. Incredible balance and perfect compliment to roasted duck. Slow oxed for 3 hrs prior to consumption.
