Community Tasting Notes 24

July 3, 2016 - Delightfully mature wine with warming notes of raisins, nutmeg and earthy mushrooms, coupled with red and black berries. Fragrant nose with clear raisin elements.

Tasted earlier. This bottle was much nicer.

April 24, 2015 - Fading but still nice with that Nebbiolo spark.

July 13, 2013 - Treats in the cellar: Vouvray, Chablis, Bordeaux, Piedmont and Hermitage (Chelsea Wine Storage.): Nicely aromatic and showing black and red fruit on the palate with licorice, spice and irony/mineral notes. Still a bit chunky and coarse with some aggressiveness to the structure. Needs food. B+.

February 19, 2012 - Holding up well for an older medium weight Nebbiolo, this wine had fruit, balance and length. Clearly the evening favorite. A denser Carema like vino, very lovely indeed.

Rockss and Fruit

(Sella Lessona) This is a great wine from a lesser known Nebbiolo appelation. Lessona is cooler than Barolo and Barbaresco. I love what this wine brings to the table. Aromas of black tar, red cherry fruit, stawberry and some nice dried rose notes. Grew much more complex with and the nose put on quite a show. Palate is structured and ripe and did not have the burly tanning of young Barolo and Barbaresco. Very pure and extremely well made. This is a new winery to me but I love what I have tasted so far. This is a great value and I wil definetly cellar a couple. This wine has style and poise without losing its unmistakeable Nebbiolo/Lessona identity.
