January 6, 2024 - Drunk alongside a La Tache 17. The 17 Tache is drinking beautifully already whereas the RMC, which is obviously stunning, tastes like it is is brooding for a later date to truly sing. La Tache was the winner for me but a privilege to drink them and even more a privilege to drink them together. No score from me

October 20, 2023 - blind, side by side with LT same vintage
I guessed both wines right. I would "go" with the Conti but most of the more Burgundy experienced people at the table preferred the LT. Lt is spicier and wilder while the other one is more elegant and subtle. Great experience. Thanks Ingo. Some violet and a hint of roses. Some underwood, but nothing is annoying. 99

October 11, 2023 - This must be Romanee Conti. Slightly reductive, delineated stem aromantics. Truly heavenly florality. Intensity without weight. Just dances across the tongue. Crushes the Tache. (1854/5281)

April 22, 2021 - Incredibly lucid, stem aromatics wow wow wow! Mind bending balance on offer, sweetness and austerity. If this isn’t Pinot Noir perfection, then it’s Goddamn close. (4414/5281)

October 23, 2019 - Part of a 2016 DRC tasting, a vintage that impressed with how approachable it already was, purity, elegance and versatility. For me, the La Tâche scored best, followed by Richebourg and Romanée-Conti – although the latter may well surpass the La Tâche in the long run. Corton came in last. Montrachet, Échezeaux and Grands-Échezeaux were not produced commercially that year and older vintages offered instead.

Darker fruit than La Tâche. Ripe red to borderline dark cherry – although versatile and changing. Initially not all valves were open I found, but opened up quickly in the glass. Mineral aromas sit humbly in the background, but provide a contextual frame for the fruit core. Floral high notes complete the picture. Pure and terroir driven. Hardly noticed, but present were secondary aromatics of leather and cedar wood. Powerful. Lots of acidity reigned in my slightly grainy tannins. A bold structure and should clearly improve with aging. Would not be surprised to see this surpass both Richbourg and La Tâche with sufficient bottle age.
